The government launches a plan for the promotion of endangered languages
NEW DELHI: The government has launched a scheme for the promotion of endangered languages at central and state universities, said Union Human Rights Minister Nishank in the Lok sabha Monday.
The minister said the plan was launched following the recommendations of a committee of experts formed by the University Grants Commission () to study issues related to the preservation and promotion of endangered languages.
A scheme has been launched for the promotion of endangered languages in state universities and the establishment of a center for endangered languages in central universities, he said during.
Pokhriyal said that to ensure the preservation of endangered languages, the universities identified have been grouped into separate groups such as northeastern languages, tribal, numerical languages and languages and theoretical works of danger.
