Two villagers killed by the Naxalites in Maharashtra

NAGPUR: Naxalites He allegedly killed two people in a village in the house, police said Monday.

The incident took place in the village of Gadchiroli, located about 170 km from here, Sunday night, a police officer said.

According to preliminary information, the victims, Maaso Pungati (55) and Rishi Meshram (52), worked at the Surajgadh mines in Gadchiroli that the Naxals disapproved of and, therefore, the ultras killed them, he said.

In a statement, Gadchiroli police said Pungati was a Naxal supporter and not a 'police', as stated in a section of the media.

The duties of a police include reporting a crime in town to the police station and is governed by the Maharashtra Village Police Law.
