Jeet's messy avatar, Abir's gloomy character, Durga's greatest idol, ASUR has all the elements to attract moviegoers
The next Asur de Pavel has all the right elements to attract Bengali movie fans, given the response of the recent launch.
As we have seen in the trailer, the plot offers an interesting reference to Durga Puja 2015 when there was a horrible situation similar to a stampede in the popular Deshapirya Park Puja when a large crowd visited the panda of the South Kolkata bid to take a look to the 88-foot idol giant Durga, a creation by artist Mintu Pal. Such was the madness for the idol that finally the Kolkata police had to finally declare that the Puja mandap was completely closed for public view.
Back to Asur , Jeet portrays Kigan, a crazy independent artist who creates the tallest Durga idol and it leads to an unprecedented crowd and almost out-of-control situation. Jeet looks almost unrecognizable in his stunning long unkempt hair disheveled avatar.
But it's only a small part of the story, since the movie also focuses on a friendship story that goes crazy between close friends Kigan and Bodhi ( Open Chatterjee ). Nusrat Jahan plays Aditi, who looks like the love interest of Jeet. Meanwhile, Abir's Bodhi, a textile business magnet, sponsors more than 50 Durga Pujas across the city and he employs Kigan to make something remarkable. Abir’s character has a lot of gray shades after Mainak Bhaumik's ‘Borno Porichoy’. Incidentally, this film will also have Prosenjit Chatterjee in a cameo
‘Asur’ which is Pavel's third director after ‘Babar Naam Gandhiji’ and ‘Rosogolla’ is set to release on January 3.
