Fadnavis made CM to save the Rs 40,000 million from the Center, says BJP deputy Anant Kumar Hegde
UTTARA KANNADA: Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP ) MP has claimed that he was appointed Prime Minister of Maharashtra despite not having a majority to prevent central funds worth Rs 40,000 million from being misused by the alliance of Maha Vikas Aghadi of Shiv Sena , PNC and Congress.
You all know that our man in Maharashtra became prime minister for 80 hours. Then Fadnavis resigned. Why did you do this drama? Didn't we know that we don't have a majority and yet he became prime minister. This is the question everyone asks, Hegde said here on Sunday.
The MP from Uttara Kannada said that the BJP staged a drama to move the money to the central government.
A chief minister has access to around Rs 40,000 crore from the Center. He knew if Congress-NCP- Shiv Sena government comes to power it would be misuse funds meant for development. So, it was decided that there should be a drama. Fadnavis became chief minister and in 15 hours he moved Rs 40,000 crore back to Center, Hegde added.
Fadnavis was sworn in as prime minister of Maharashtra on November 23, while Ajit Pawar of NCP swore in as the state's chief vice minister. However, on November 26, Fadnavis announced his resignation after the Supreme Court ordered a floor test at the state assembly.
On November 28, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray was sworn in as the chief minister of Maharashtra.
