Rape murder in Hyderabad: Chief defendant dodged officials hours before the crime

HYDERABAD: The main defendant in the group rape and the murder of a young veterinarian on the outskirts of Hyderabad last Wednesday had been driving a truck for more than two years without a license and was never captured until about 48 hours before the heinous crime.

But even when Mohd Ali, aka Areef, was intercepted by surveillance and transportation personnel in Mahbubnagar on November 25, he evaded the arrest and seizure of his truck. Police said Ali immobilized the truck while the officers were seizing it, and then drove away when they had left.

Details of how Ali escaped Scottish-free despite not having a driving license came up during the investigation of how he and three alleged accomplices conspired to attack the veterinarian, police said.

On November 24, Ali and the Jollu Shiva truck cleaner had picked up a load of bricks in Karnataka and were traveling to Hyderabad, where they were going to deliver the shipment. According to the return report, Ali called the other two defendants, Jollu Naveen and Chintakunta Chennakeshavulu, to meet him in the village of Gudigandla in Telangana. The plan was to illegally transport an extra load of steel channels from there to Hyderabad.

While Chintakunta returned home from the village after loading the steel, the other three traveled to Hyderabad from Gudigandla. When they passed through Mahbubnagar, a joint team of the regional transport authority and the surveillance and surveillance department intercepted the truck near the I Town police station.

“This was around 4 am on November 25. The truck driver was not licensed. Our officials decided to confiscate the vehicle, but Ali cleverly removed the auto-starter cable to make sure the truck could not move. As the truck did not start, we moved to another place to continue our work. When we returned, the defendant had fled with the truck, assistant motor vehicle inspector Chiranjeevi told TOI.

From Mahbubnagar, the defendant went to a fuel pump and parked the truck there. From the fuel pump, Chennakesavulu drove the truck while Naveen rode the bicycle. Near the Raikal toll plaza, the defendant sold the steel channels for 4,000 rupees.

Around nine o'clock on the night of November 26, the four arrived in Shamshabad, parked the truck on the side of the road and slept inside the vehicle. The next day, at 9 am, a police team arrived at the scene and asked the defendant to move the vehicle from there.

Instead of leaving Shamshabad, the defendant headed towards the Thondupally ORR toll plaza and parked the truck. They were busy drinking when they saw the veterinarian park their scooter next to the truck. They immediately drew up a plan to attack her, a police officer said.

“They poured some liquor in his mouth. The victim lost consciousness during sexual assault. When she returned, Ali suffocated her to death, ”says the return report.

After committing the murder, the defendant wrapped the body in a sheet and threw it under a sewer near the Ashiyana Hotel in Chattanpalli. “After setting fire to the body, the defendant destroyed the victim's two SIM cards and left the place. They left the victim's scooter in Kothur and took the truck to Aramgarh around 5 am on November 28, the report says.

After his accomplices left, Ali parked the truck in Auto Nagar in Shamshabad and went home.
