EPL: Doherty leads 1-1 draw for Wolves against Sheffield United
An excellent second half header by Matt Doherty canceled an early goal by Lys Mousset as Wolverhampton Wanderers came from behind to tie 1-1 at home against Sheffield United, extending his undefeated Premier league Run to nine games on Sunday.
The crowd in Molineux had barely taken a seat when Mousset hit after 62 seconds, taking a touch to control the ball in the box before hitting it home to put the visitors ahead.
Despite creating several decent opportunities, the home team watched everything at sea for much of the first hour until Doherty came across a crossroads by Raúl Jiménez with a powerful header to level them in the 64th minute.
Doherty celebrated the goal with an emotional tribute to the two-year-old daughter of former Wolf striker Benik Afobe, who died on Friday, taking off the black bracelet she wore in her honor and kissing it before lifting it to the sky.
The goal caused a sustained period of pressure from the Wolves, but Sheffield United showed why they are undefeated away from home this season with a stubborn defensive display while they waited for the draw.
The wolves remain in sixth place in the table with 20 points after 14 games, with the Blades one point behind them in the seventh.
