What the player does after being approached is a problem: Sourav Ganguly on the repair

MUMBAI: President of BCCI Sourav Ganguly On Sunday he said a bookmaker had approached a player during the current Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament, which had been reported to the Board's Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU).

Even at Syed Mushtaq, they told me that he approached one of the players, but I don't know the exact name. But an approach was made and he informed him, Ganguly told a press conference after BCCI. Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The former captain said that what players do after bookmakers approach them is the biggest problem.

That (approach) is not the problem, that is not bad. What is wrong is what happens after they are approached, he added.

Ganguly made the revelation when asked about the repair scandals that shook the Tamil Nadu Premier League and Karnataka Premier League .

In September, the police in Tamil Nadu have stumbled upon clues of match-fixing racket in the Tamil Nadu Premier League. A match-fixing scandal also surfaced in the Karnataka Premier League last month, leading to the arrest of an international bookie and a few players.

Some players, such as India's international Abhimanyu Mithun, who is being investigated for the KPL's point repair scandal, are also playing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament.

Ganguly said it is very difficult for the Board to stop tournaments, because someone is approaching him, but he admitted that in some of the states he has moved to the next level.

We have treated it (in the case of TNPL and KPL). We have talked with the respective states. The KPL is on hold until all this is clarified.

There are tournaments in Chennai, Saurashtra and Mumbai. For Saurashtra and Mumbai, there have been no complaints, but in Chennai there have been a couple of complaints, but we will deal with that.

He said the Board will have to strengthen its Anti-Corruption Unit to deal with these types of problems.

Nobody wants this, it doesn't help anyone. And we will put a system in the two leagues in which bets and arrangements occurred, KPL is on hold and Chennai (TNPL) has suspended the two franchises.

We have to make the anti-corruption system correct, try to put the best anti-corruption, try to make it even stronger and evaluate it. If it does not work or does not stop, we will have to think about something else.
