F1: Leclerc faces a post-race investigation into Ferrari fuel irregularity

ABU DHABI: Charles Leclerc He was at risk of a post-race penalty at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday after a fuel irregularity was discovered in his Ferrari during the pre-race checks.

In a statement, FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer said: The fuel declaration of car number 16 was verified before the car left the pit lane.

There was a significant difference between the declaration of the equipment and the amount of fuel inside the car.

As this does not comply with Technical Directive (TD)/12-19, I am referring this matter to delegates for their consideration.

The investigation is scheduled to take place after the end of the season race at the Yas Marina Circuit .

Leclerc was ready to start Sunday's race from third place on the grid for Ferrari.

He is bidding to review Red Bull's Max Verstappen to take third place in the drivers' championship and currently exceeds it by 11 points.

Ferrari has faced the cynicism of rival teams in recent months amid claims that the Italian team had 'cheated' by using a power boost system.
