La Liga: Sevilla seals a close victory over Leganés to go second
Sevilla beat Leganes basement club 1-0 at home in an exciting match on Sunday to climb to second in the league .
The victory raised them to 30 points after 15 games, one behind the leaders. Real Madrid , who have a game in hand, although Barcelona, with 28 points, will rise above both sides if they win Atletico Madrid Later Sunday.
Sevilla defender Diego Carlos scored the only goal in the 63rd minute of a game from end to end, flying towards the roof of the net from very close inside a crowded penalty after Jules Kounde's kick was stopped.
Leganés produced a brave and bold display and created numerous opportunities to score throughout the game, with Moroccan striker Youssef En-Nesyri almost giving them the advantage with a bike kick in the early second half.
They besieged the area of Seville in additional time, but the side of Julen Lopetegui held on, surviving the last seconds of nerves when a VAR review was conducted to determine whether visitors should receive a penalty for pushing in the area.
