Pune: man held for killing his wife
PUNE: On Sunday he arrested a 28-year-old Bavdhan resident strangling her to death after a fight. The murder occurred in the early hours of Saturday.
The suspect Vijay Kahale of Bavdhan had initially claimed that his wife Ayodhya (22) ended his life hanging from the roof of his house. Autopsy and police investigation revealed that it was a murder and not a suicide. Ayodhya's uncle, Tyambak Bobade, has filed a FIR with the police.
The assistant inspector of the Hinjewadi police, Anand Pagare, told TOI that on Saturday morning, the police received information about the suicide of a woman in the Bavdhan area. The woman's husband told us that his wife had hanged herself with her dupatta, Pagare said.
The body was sent for the greatest amount of mortem, where doctors found a mark of injury to the woman's head and it was also mentioned in the report that the woman was strangled and that it was not suicide. We also suspect that Kahale had given different statements to the police, doctors and their families, Pagare said.
After a sustained interrogation, Kahale admitted that he had killed his wife. “The prima facie investigation revealed that on Friday night, Ayodhya and Kahale had entered into a fight when the latter had returned home in a drunken state. Kahale had assaulted her with some blunt object and then strangled her to death with a rope, Pagare said.
The suspect Kahale owns a restaurant, which he has leased, Pagare said.
