Pune: Dehu Road police arrest two thieves

PUNE: Police arrested two Lonar people and detained their minor accomplice on charges of assaulting and robbing people after offering them a lift, on five different occasions.

The police have detected two cases, of five, registered in the rural police of Pune, in which the three have been involved with one more accomplice of Chikhali who is still at large.

The arrested duo has been identified as Pavan Kadale (21) and Santosh Ingawale (22), both of Lonar in Buldhana district.

Police have recovered gold ornaments worth Rs 3.5 lakh, and a car used by the suspects, from those arrested.

The investigation revealed that the suspect had hired a hatchback car from Buldhana district to execute the crime. They changed their registration number with the registration number of the similar model available for sale online, said Deputy Inspector Ashok Jagtap of Dehu Road Police.

The gang had been operating on the Pune-Mumbai highway and the Pune-Ahmednagar highway since October 10, senior inspector Manish Kalyankar told TOI.

A Dehu Road police team led by Deputy Inspector Jagtap caught the duo and took his minor accomplice in Lonar's custody based on a warning. His fourth accomplice has about 12 cases of robberies registered against him with Nigdi police, Jagtap said.
