Punjab: narrow escape for five people while a car catches fire in Ludhiana

LUDHIANA: Five people, including a woman and two children, had a narrow escape when their car in which they were traveling suddenly caught fire near the Preet Palace in Ludhiana on Sunday afternoon.

The fire brigade arrived at the scene to control the fire, but by the time the fire had completely engulfed the car.

The Indigo car belonged to Ram Kripal, a Daba resident and works in a private company.

Ram Kripal along with his friend and his wife and two children were going to attend a marriage function in Haibowal, when the car reached the Gill Road flyover and noticed smoke coming from the dashboard.

When they arrived near the Preet Palace, suddenly flames began to emerge from the car's engine. They stopped the car and got out.

The fire brigade received the call at 1.40 p.m. about the incident and the Gill Road firefighters rushed to the scene. The fire was controlled at 2.20 p.m. The car was towed away from the road.

The station's fire officials, SN Sharma, said: Fortunately, no one was injured since the people in the car left on time. Firefighters controlled the flame in a few minutes, but the car caught fire completely.
