Rape and murder of the veterinarian of Telangana: police plan to seek custody of four defendants

HYDERABAD: When probing the 25-year-old woman on the outskirts of the city, she said Sunday they planned to file a petition in court, seeking custody of the four defendants for a new interrogation.

The four men, all truck workers, were arrested on Friday for allegedly raping and killing the woman.

The defendants were sent to judicial custody for 14 days by the executive magistrate who approved the order at the police station, where they were housed, since they could not appear in court due to the presence of the large number of protesters in front of the police station.

The stones were thrown into a police vehicle on Saturday when the defendants were taken to jail in Hyderabad, and the police used moderate force to control the crowd.

The woman's charred body, who worked as an assistant veterinarian in a state hospital, was found under a sewer in Shadnagar, near here, on November 28 in the morning, one day after her disappearance, police said.

As part of an additional investigation, we are thinking of submitting a custody petition shortly, a senior police officer told PTI.

The (custody interrogation) can be done in the jail itself, the official said.

He denied reports in a section of the press that one of the defendants had sexually assaulted the body.

The defendant, who was drunk, had also tried to force the victim to drink liquor, but she did not, the official said.

When asked if the truck driver would also be arrested, he responded negatively, saying the man was a witness.

(The identity of the victim to protect their privacy has not been disclosed according to the directives of the Supreme Court on cases related to sexual assault)
