Priyanka Gandhi expresses his outrage over rape and murder cases, says he needs to do much more than just talk

NEW DELHI: Expressing outrage over the savage rape and murder of a young veterinarian in Hyderabad and a teenager in Sambhal, leader of Congress Priyanka Gandhi on Saturday he said that as a society we need to do much more than just talk when such horror incidents occur.

On Twitter, Gandhi said he is deeply disturbed by the two cases of rape and murder and that there are not enough words to express his outrage.

I have been so disturbed by the savage rape and murder of the young veterinarian in Hyderabad and the teenager in Sambhal that there are not enough words to express my outrage. As a society, we have to do much more than talk when these horrible incidents take place, he wrote.



She said that our mentality has to be shaken to change, to reject violence, to refuse to accept the abhorrent way in which women are brutalized daily.



On Saturday, mass protests were held in Telangana, along with several other parts of the country against the brutal rape and murder of a veterinary doctor in the state. The locals even threw sneakers at police personnel near here, after which the police had to resort to accusing law and order as protesters demanded that the defendant be handed over. Four people, identified as Mohammad Areef, Jollu Shiva, Jollu Naveen and Chintakunta Chennakeshavulu, were arrested in the case and sent to 14-day judicial custody by a Ranga Reddy court yesterday. The burned body of the doctor was found on the outskirts of Shadnagar at Telangana's. According to the preliminary investigation, the police suspect that the veterinarian was sexually assaulted.

In another incident, a 15-year-old girl who was allegedly raped and burned on November 22 died on Saturday while receiving treatment at a New Delhi hospital, police said. The defendant was arrested by police hours after the incident. .
