25,000 BS-VI Active scooters sold; Transition of the entire portfolio before March: HMSI

New Delhi, December 1 () Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has already sold around 25,000 units of Activa 125 scooter compatible with BS-VI and the transition of the rest of the models in its portfolio will be completed in early 2020, according to a high company officer .

It is possible that the company that has more than 20 offers on motorcycles and scooters in different ranges of models does not update some models to comply with BS-VI emission standards considering its poor traction compared to other popular models.

We present in June of this year our Active 125 BS-VI. We started selling it from September. 25,000 units of the model have already been sold until November 15 and almost 90 percent of our network has received it. Yadvinder Singh Guleria, senior vice president of Sales and Marketing for Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI).

He also said that on November 14 the company also launched its second BS-VI product on the market, the SP125 motorcycle.

This is our first BS-VI motorcycle and it also started arriving at our dealerships in the last week of November, Guleria said.

It is priced at Rs 72,900 and Rs 77,100 (ex-showroom Delhi) for the drum and disc brake versions, respectively.

Commenting on the company's preparation for the transition to BS-VI since April 1, 2020, he said: We will gradually launch the BS-VI line. It will definitely be before the deadline and we are not waiting during the last month to complete our releases.

The company will complete all of its BS-VI product launches at the beginning of the last quarter of 2019-20, he added. When asked if any model will be removed from the portfolio during the transition, Guleria said: In general, most models will see their 'avatar' BS-VI, but yes, very few models may not be upgraded to BS-VI. But these will be very limited models, which do not work well compared to others. RKL ANU
