IndiGo will have a multilingual website, start with Hindi next year
NEW DELHI: Language will no longer be an obstacle for Bharat to fly from next year. Indigo , Which flies to almost one in two national passengers, it will have a multilingual website next year, starting with Hindi and then other Indian languages.
“We have been planning this for some time. Having our website in different languages has a different costing for each language. We will make a start with Hindi early next year and then the website will be made available in more Indian languages,” said an Indigo official. This is the first time an Indian carrier is going to have a multilingual website.
This makes sense for the largest airline in India, which currently has almost 250 aircraft in its fleet, with 635 more to be delivered at the rate of one aircraft per week for the next 13-14 years. Filling these many planes, amid the turbulence of the growing demand for travel, means reaching as many people as possible in your own language and helping them make flight reservations.
Airlines are trying to get passengers to make direct bookings on their website or app. Many offer free change or cancellation (with certain conditions) as a reward for doing so. Indigo has also entered into code shares with West Asian like Turkish and Qatar airlines . With such major presence, there is no avenue that Indigo can or will now leave untouched to get more bookings.
