Sambhal girl, raped and burned dies in Delhi hospital after 9 days

BAREILLY: A 16-year-old girl who was raped and burned by her neighbor succumbed to burns on Saturday at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. The girl had suffered 80% burns and fought for nine days before she died.

The horrible crime was committed on November 21 under the boundaries of the Nakhasa police station. The teenager, who had suffered 80% burns, was immediately referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi after providing first aid at the community health center.

Additional police superintendent Alok Jaiswal said they had managed to catch the defendant, Zishan (30), within a few hours of the crime.

“Zishan had resided in the same town where the girl lived in a house with her mother and a sister. His father had passed away a few years ago. His mother and sister had gone to the market to buy medicine when the defendant broke into the house and found her alone, ”said the ASP.

In her police report, the victim's mother had said she found the defendant raping her daughter when she arrived home. When he gave the alarm, the accused grabbed a can of kerosene and threw it at the girl. Before fleeing, he set it on fire while the woman and her other daughter watched in horror.

The station official, Devendra Singh Dhama, said: He was provided with the best medical facility but could not survive because he was severely burned.

The ASP said the case would be taken to a fast-track court to ensure that the culprit gets the maximum punishment as soon as possible. “We added section 302 (murder) of IPC in the FIR and also initiated the process to impose the NSA on the accused. In addition, the investigating officer receives instructions from a rapid probe, so that it can be tried as soon as possible, ”said the police officer.

Meanwhile, administrative officials said they would ensure that the victim's family is covered by the state's Rani Laxmi Bai scheme to provide them with monetary compensation.
