Cricket test returns to Pakistan after a decade, Sri Lanka confirms the series next month

LAHORE Cricket test He will return to Pakistan after more than a decade with Sri Lanka on Thursday agreeing on a series of two matches in December, which will be part of the current World Championship in traditional format.

Sri Lanka played a bilateral ODI and T20 International series in Pakistan in September-October earlier this year despite 10 of its main players, including the ODI captain Dimuth Karunaratne and the Twenty20 captain, Lasith Malinga, opting not to participate for security reasons.

The first test of the next series will be played in Rawalpindi from December 11 to 15, while the second test will be held in Karachi from December 19 to 23.

This is great news for Pakistan's cricket and its reputation for being as safe as any other country in the world. We are grateful for Sri Lanka Cricket for agreeing to send his team for the longest version of the game, PCB (International Cricket) director Zakir Khan said in a statement.

Khan said the confirmation will contribute in the PCB's efforts towards ensuring a regular resumption of international cricket in the country. Incidentally, Sri Lanka was also the last team to play Cricket test in Pakistan, back in 2009.

The island nation team was attacked by terrorists in Lahore during that tour, which caused the freezing of international cricket in Pakistan.

Sri Lanka was originally scheduled to play the Tests in October and then return in December for a limited series, but the matches were exchanged to give them the opportunity to assess the situation before deciding on the Test locations.

Now that the itinerary has been confirmed, we will change our focus on the preparations for the series to make sure we deliver the arrangements according to our highest standards, Khan said.

Sri Lanka Cricket chief executive Ashley de Silva said based on an earlier visit, the SLC is comfortable and convinced that conditions are suitable and conducive for Cricket test .

We also believe that all countries that play cricket should host international cricket at home and in this relationship we are pleased to play our part in the full resumption of international cricket in Pakistan, he said.
