The buildings in Maradu will probably be razed in mid-December

KOCHI: It is likely that the four illegal complexes will be razed the same day. Municipal authorities seek to demolish buildings in mid-December. On November 11, Chief Secretary Tom Jose will make a final decision on the date of the demolition.

A technical committee meeting was held on Friday and safety precautions to be taken during demolition, vibration and other aspects were discussed. People who live within 200 m of each building will be evacuated during demolition. Meanwhile, a meeting of the city's police commissioner, district collector and subcollector is likely to be held on Saturday to discuss methods of evacuation and diversion of traffic.

“Our goal is to demolish all four buildings on the same day. The state government will make a final decision on that. But the challenge is that all explosives and safety devices such as geographic textiles should be available in a short space of time. Explosives will be available in 20 days. The availability of technical experts and work on the same day is another challenge, ”said an official.

Golden Kayaloram will be the last to be demolished due to the challenge involved. Due to the symmetry of the structure and the presence of a high-rise building in its vicinity, the demolition of Golden Kayaloram is a challenge, the official said.
