Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth and Mani Ratnam, presenters of Bigg Boss Tamil, present the statue of the iconic filmmaker K. Balachander
On the occasion of his 65th birthday (November 7) and completing 60 years in the film industry, Bigg Boss Tamil host Kamal Haasan unveiled a statue of the legendary Tamil filmmaker K. Balachander . The ceremony had a Tamil superstar Rajinikanth filmmaker Mani Ratnam , Santhana Bharathi, filmmaker PC Sreeram, Ishari Ganesh, actriz Pooja Kumar, las hijas de Kamal Shruti Haasan & Akshara Haasan & other Kollywood celebrities in attendance.
Kamal unveiled the statue on the premises of his production house that was launched the same day.
K. Balachander is one of the most revered Tamil filmmakers & many including Kamal, Rajinikanth & others consider him as their ‘Guru’. Besides his accomplishments on silver screen, K. Balachander is known for his pioneering work on Tamil TV as well. He made many TV shows like Sahana, Oru Koodai Paasam, Kadhal Pagadai, Premi, Jannal, Kai Alavu Manasu, Ramani vs Ramani, Rail Sneham, Anni among others. Many of his TV shows projected women in powerful roles.On the occasion of his father Srinivasan’s death anniversary, Kamal Haasan unveiled his statue in his native, Paramakudi. Kamal’s daughters Shruti Haasan , Akshara Haasan , brother Charu Haasan relative Suhasini Maniratnam & many others participated in this event.
