PF scam: Power employees protest against investment in DHFCL

LUCKNOW: enraged with the supposed forecast fund (PF) fraud involving investment Of their hard-earned money in contaminated Dewan Housing and Finance Corporation Limited (DHFCL), energy employees organized a protest at Shakti Bhawan, the headquarters of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL), in state capital Lucknow on Tuesday.

The employees, under the auspices of, demanded that the state government take the guarantee of the money that has been invested by the confidence of the employees of the UP state power sector in several unscheduled financial institutions, including DHFCL, PNN Housing and LIC Housing Limited .

Samiti's convener, Shailendra Dubey, said UPPCL president Alok Kumar, who is also the chairman of the trust, should be responsible for the anomaly and resign. The union in a statement also demanded that Kumar be arrested for the alleged scam, as it could influence the ongoing investigation of the economic wing and the crime.

More than 3 billion rupees were invested in DHFCL during Kumar's tenure and, therefore, should be held liable for the anomaly, Dubey said.

The angry power employee began meeting in the afternoon before making a walking march around the two buildings that house the offices of the president of UPPCL and energy minister Srikant Sharma. In raising slogans against the administration of UPPCL, the employee said that the state government cannot avoid its responsibility to guarantee public welfare.

The agitation came a day after the state government eliminated the managing director of UPPCL, Aparna U, and appointed her secretary in the irrigation department.
