Life begins at 40, says Birsa Dasgupta
Birsa Dasgupta celebrated his 40 birthday on Saturday. “They say life begins at 40. Well, let's see! In life, I gave myself time to do things. I did everything honestly and got decent results. Thanks to my lovely parents (Chaitali and Raja Dasgupta), both my brother and I were raised extremely well. In my teens, I wanted to learn movies. Then, I left Kolkata when I was 19 years old and worked in Mumbai during a golden period. My brother, Ribhu, came to live with me in Mumbai and the destinations changed. At 25, I fell in love with Bidipta (Chakraborty), I returned to Kolkata, I fathered little Meghla. Today, with Ida, we have a big family. prior to turn 30 , I had wanted to make a movie in my mother tongue. Now, I've done 10 of them. This is life! Deep down, I feel that I need to 'raise the ante', explore new territories and platforms, mix with progressive and modern people and do my best. The 40 to 50 phase is the most important moment in the life of a filmmaker. It is the most mature and powerful period, they say. Here is a new beginning! ”Said the director, who celebrated his special day with the family.
Birsa's last film was Bibaho Obhijan, who had Ankush, Sohini Sarkar, Rudranil Ghosh and Nusrat Faria in the lead. The film was a comedy prank that involved two childhood friends, Anupam (Ankush) and Rajat (Rudranil Ghosh), who decide to marry. Shortly after, they realize the consequences of married life. It is a playful tribute to the eternal link Tom and Jerry between husbands and wives.
