Today is the birthday of actor Soumyajit Majumdar

Actor Soumyajit Majumdar , who is part of Ronny Sen Chopsticks that has reached international competition: innovation in moving images of the 25 th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF), turned a year older today. Soumyajit, who loves to travel, is spending th e day wi th his friends in Tajpur . “For me, th is bir th day has been a reunion of sorts. I am meeting some of my friends after really long,” he said. Soumyajit, who plays th e role of a poly addict, Gere Bappa, in Chopsticks , is looking forward to th e festival. “I will be present for th e film’s screening on November 9 and November 11, after which I will leave for Goa on work,” he said.

About how he landed th e part, th e actor told us, “Ronny has a considerable body of work in black-and-white photography and I knew about him. But I didn’t know him as a person before auditioning for th e film. The actors, who came toge th er for th e movie, are from Kolkata and Mumbai. But even th e Kolkata actors are now doing well in terms of work.” Soumyajit said apart from Chopsticks , his Ghost of th e Golden Groves (Sonajurir Bhoot), directed by Aniket Dutta and Roshni Sen, is also doing th e festival rounds. “I play th e protagonist in Ghost of th e Golden Groves. My character is th at of a cook, who comes to a house only to make some strange discoveries,” he said.

On th e work front, Soumyajit is also gearing up to make his debut as a director.
