RSS, BJP communicate with Muslims before the verdict of Ayodhya; meeting with clergy, intellectuals held
NEW DELHI: As part of the RSS and BJP efforts to reach Muslims before the Ayodhya verdict, a meeting was organized on Tuesday with clerics, academics and prominent people in the community, with participants who insisted on maintaining harmony and social unity
The meeting, held at the home of minority affairs minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, was attended by leaders of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Krishna Gopal and Ramlal, former Union minister Shahnawaz Hussain and a large number of prominent members of Muslim community
Those present at the meeting expressed their commitment to strengthen and protect the fabric of socio-communal harmony, brotherhood and unity of the country in all circumstances.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind general secretary Mahmood Madani, filmmaker Muzaffar Ali, member of the Muslim Personal Law Board of India, Kamal Faruqui, former deputy Shahid Siddiqui and Shiite cleric Kalbe Jawad were among the personalities Key Muslims present at the meeting, sources said.
The participants called on people to be cautious with the elements involved in a conspiracy to damage the unity and harmony of society for their vested interests.
Naqvi said that unity in diversity is our cultural commitment, according to sources.
It is the collective responsibility of all sectors of society to protect this force of unity, he said at the meeting.
