Being an independent filmmaker, Parantap shares the difficulties facing an independent filmmaker these days. “The main problem facing an independent filmmaker today is content overload. Due to the free digital platform such as YouTube and the availability of DSLR or mobile phone that are economical and can capture high resolution videos, many aspiring filmmakers make short films and upload them to few popular digital platforms. Along with this, the popular OTT and other platforms make incredible original web series, short films that are available in very good quality. There are so many good contents but people don't have time to see them. Another reason is the bankruptcy of ideas because many short films, web series and movies have already been made on various topics. Increasing funds for independent films or income generation is also a big problem. In general, producers do not like to invest in something where they cannot be guaranteed a return, the filmmaker said.

Recently, the young filmmaker worked with two promising singers. Prajna Dutta & Debojit Dutta in their music albums directing the music videos ‘Natun Abeshe’ & ‘Adure Alap’ respectively. ‘Adure Alap’ has even impressed Sonu nigam as the music teacher recently shared the music video of his officer Facebook page.

We asked the talented filmmaker what problems non-film music is facing right now. “I think the major problem in non-film music is revenue generation. There are many good singers, composers are in the industry right now & they want to make independent music. But they don’t know where to publish their songs or how to make a living by creating independent music. Everyone jumps into Youtube & it becomes overcrowded with good & not so good music. Few talented composers/singers also make their portfolio in the original songs but stop after few months because they do not find it workable,” said Parantap who has loads of interesting projects on his plate right now.
