Ashok Leyland presents BS-VI trucks, buses

Chennai, November 4 () The flagship of the Hinduja Group, Ashok Leyland, showed its wide range of Bharat Stage VI trucks and buses in Chennai on Monday.

The main commercial vehicle based in the city has become the first manufacturer of original equipment (OEM) in India to comply with BS-VI emission standards in the entire range of heavy duty trucks of 16.2 tons or more .

We are the first OEM to obtain BS-VI certification for our full range of heavy trucks. This will be presented with a new modular vehicle platform that will provide customized solutions to meet the specific needs of customers, Hinduja said.

The emission standard of Bharat Stage VI (or BS-VI) would become effective as of April 1 of next year throughout the country. Currently, vehicles sold in the country comply with BS-IV emission standards.

The emission standards of the Bharat stage are instituted by the government to regulate the production of air pollutants from motor vehicles.

Hinduja said the company would enter the Russian market over the next 12 months and had identified a local assembler. According to Hinduja, the company is looking to enter several new countries, including Malaysia and Indonesia, to ship its products. HMB VIJ
