The coach of Bengaluru FC Cuadrat clarifies his comments on the arbitration
JAMSHEDPUR: Bengaluru FC coach Carles Cuadrat on Sunday he clarified his comments regarding arbitration after his match against Jamshedpur FC at JRD Tata Sports Complex here.
During a press conference on Thursday last week, Cuadrat had lashed out at arbitration standards in the Indian Super League and had asked ISL CEO Martin Bain will take steps to solve the problem.
However, speaking at the post-match press conference here, Cuadrat said, "I want to make a clarification regarding my statements as far as refereeing is concerned. Being a coach I have a job and if I don't do it properly the club will ask me to go back to Spain. As for the players, they also have a job and if I'm not happy with them I will tell them to go and sit on the bench. It's similar with the referees also. But I have observed they are repeating the same mistakes over and over again. These mistakes are very clear and we can watch it on the television and they are not even tricky situations. However, it's not that they are helping one team or the other.
In our case, we have analysts to rectify our mistakes, but the surprising thing is that, even after spending four years in the country, I have not seen any improvement among the referees. They are still making the same mistakes over and over again.
I want to help improve their level, since they are essential for football. So hopefully India will produce good referees as they have done with good players in the last four years.
