Ellen DeGeneres will receive the Golden Globe award for life for her contribution to television

Popular comedian and talk show host Ellen Degeneres He will be honored at the 77th Golden Globes ceremony with the Carol Burnett Award for his outstanding contribution to television.

The official Twitter handle of the Golden Globe Awards tweeted about the same, "The HFPA is proud to announce that three-time Golden GlobeĀ® nominee Ellen Degeneres will receive the Carol Burnett Award for her outstanding contributions to the television medium, during the 77th Golden Globes ceremony on Sunday, January 5, 2020."

With this recognition, Ellen will be only the second recipient of the Carol Burnett Award which was first given to Burnett herself at the Golden Globes award ceremony in January this year. The renowned host is one of the most prominent gay women celebrities. She began her career in stand-up before shifting to television. She is currently the host of daytime talk show The Ellen Degeneres Show.

DeGeneres already has two of the highest honors in the United States: the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Mark Twain American humor award.

The Golden Globe awards ceremony for film and television will take place on January 5, 2020.
