3D movies at the Kolkata International Film Festival for the first time

This years Kolkata International Film Festival You will see some of the first initiatives of its kind in the history of the festival. For the first time, 3D films will be shown in KIFF 2019 that will be screened in Priya and Bijali. The first is a 2011 documentary Piña, based on the dance choreographer. Bausch Pineapple and the second is The meaning of the world, based on explorer and naturalist Alexander von Hum-boldt .

Pineapple, a tribute to the late German choreographer, Pineapple Bausch, as her dancers perform her most famous creations, received an Oscar nomination in 2012. It had also won the Best Film Not in the English Language award at the 2012 BAFTA awards. Pineapple gives us the supreme pleasure of watching fascinating bodies of widely varying ages in motion, whether leaping, falling, catching, diving, grieving, or exulting.

On the other hand, ‘The Meaning of the World’ will whisk you away to another time and place. Meet the young man Alexander von Hum-boldt who, defying his mother’s wishes, became a daring explorer-scientist — and follow along as he makes his amazing discoveries. The documentary brings Humboldt’s untamed world to life. You can see nature through the eyes of a great early scientist. Wonder awaits at KIFF for sure.
