Madurai: this traffic policeman has the mission of removing nails from the trees

MADURAI: He moves in his car from one place to another with a tool kit and a ladder with a mission that hinders his growth. Subash Srinivasan, a police chief attached to the in-service training center of the Tamil Nadu Police Academy in Ramanathapuram, has been on a mission to save trees affected by the rampant used to hang advertising posters. It has covered thousands of trees in the districts of Sivaganga and Ramanathapuram and has eliminated about 100 kg of nails in the last two years. According to the recommendation of the Ramanathapuram district police superintendent, Omprakash Meena, the Ramanathapuram district collector, K Veera Raghava Rao, honored him with a social service award during the Independence Day celebrations this year. It was also appreciated by the Ramanathapuram DIG Rupesh Kumar Meena range.

Srinivasan, while being sent as a transit agent in Devakottai two years ago, noticed that the nails damaged the growth of the trees. Since then, he has been using all his free time to remove these nails. Also call the phone numbers mentioned in the tables to inform them not to spoil the health of the trees.

“While there were a large number of nails in all the trees on the road, those near curves and crossings had more nails. I have covered most of the trees in the Ramanathapuram municipal area and I can proudly say that they are now growing healthily, ”said Srinivasan. It is not limited to where you work. The Salaigramam native in the Sivaganga district, which is now based in Sethupathi Nagar in the city of Ramanathapuram, has cultivated the habit of helping trees wherever he goes. During his visits to Chennai for sporting events, he has removed tree nails in areas such as Tambaram, Vandalur, Perungulathur and Mannadi. People, including his colleagues, senior officers and family members, used to discourage him, as they considered it unnecessary work. However, after he began receiving awards, he is now encouraged. His sons Subash Sethupathi and Kavin Sethupathi join him for the cause during his spare time.
