SJFI will honor the Vidarbha Ranji team as 'Best team of the year'

NAGPUR: the champion Vidarbha Ranji Trophy The team will be honored as the best team of the year by the Federation of Sports Journalists of India (SJFI) during the inauguration of the 42nd SJFI National Convention at a city hotel here on Monday.

National batting giant and former Mumbai skipper Amol Muzumdar who is now the batting coach on the IPL side Rajasthan Royals , will be the main guest of the inaugural function, organized by the Association of Sports Journalists of Nagpur (SJAN).

Vidarbha cricket team that won the Ranji and Irani Trophy titles for two consecutive years will be congratulated for their spectacular performance at 7 pm on Monday. Besides Muzumdar, Rajasthan Royals' team manager Romi Bhinder, chairman of Raisoni Group Sunil Raisoni, managing director of Plasto Vishal Agrawal and Shiraz Gimi of Dinshaw's will be the guests of honor.

The guests will also conduct the draw for the JK Bose Twenty20 cricket tournament that will begin simultaneously on the grounds of Ambedkar College and Vasant Nagar at 9.30 am on Tuesday morning.

On Tuesday, a seminar on The Perspectives of India will be organized at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Minister of Sports of the Union Kiren Rijiju , ace shooter Sheila Kanungo, former Indian driver and BAI vice president Pradeep Gandhe and former Indian hockey captain Dilip Tirkey will discuss the possibilities of India's medal.

On November 7, a talk about the rise of Vidarbha cricket will take place. Neville Bastawalla, chief marketing officer of Sony Pictures Network Limited, will show his plans for coverage of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in the same role.

In addition to cricket, during the convention that will end on November 8, the AC Bali table tennis tournament, free basketball shots, soccer penalties and golf games will be held, said SJFI secretary Vinod Aiyappan Nair.

The newsletter 'Nagpur Rocks' will be published daily by dignitaries. Around 100 sports journalists from across the country are arriving to participate in the five-day convention.
