Power supply to the entire UP village cut for not paying the fees

MUZAFFARNAGAR: The power supply to a village in Uttar Pradesh has been disconnected as the villagers did not clear the quotas of more than Rs 91 lakhs, officials said Sunday. The 300 consumers in the village of Jahanpura, under the limits of the police station, have not cleared their electricity bills in the amount of Rs 91.88 lakh even though they were sent reminders, said Deputy Director of Power Corporation, Atul Yadav .

Because of this, the power supply to all consumers in the village has been disconnected, he added.

Villagers said that due to the power outage, they face problems with lawnmowers and water pumps that lie unused.

In October, the state government had issued orders to recover electricity quotas after large revenue losses for power generation companies.
