Schauffele says that a McIlroy in the song may be the best player in the world

Xander Schauffele entered the debate on the best Golf ista in the world after finishing runner-up Rory McIlroy in a playoff in the WGC-HSBC Champions in Shanghai on Sunday.

Schauffele could not repeat last year's victory at Sheshan International, but was comforted a little by bringing the fight to the Northern Irish to the end, despite suffering similar symptoms to the flu.

Two shots down with four holes remaining, the American showed an impressive touch on the stretch, sinking a six-foot birdie in the 15th hole and then a five-foot foot in the last to tie it.

But after staggering at McIlroy, Schauffele set him free on the first extra hole.

When it is underway, I would say it could be said that he is the best player in the world, said Schauffele, who could hardly have been more impressed by McIlroy's brilliant and straight driving during most of the championship.

It made me play better. I know what I need to do to be a better player.

McIlroy will remain number two in the world, although victory brings him closer to Brooks Koepka , who is out with a knee injury.

McIlroy and Koepka have separated from the rest of the competition this year.

McIlroy won four times, but was disappointing in the four major championships.

Koepka, on the other hand, has won twice in 2019, including a specialization in PGA Championship , and finished no worse than fourth in any of the other majors.

Schauffele, who occupies the tenth place, is not far behind them, and at age 26 surely the best will still come from the son of a former German decathlete.

My time will come, he said.

I'm eager to be healthy, not cough, sleep, more important things to try to win a Golf tournament.
