Pollution of Delhi: air quality at 625, 32 deviated flights, schools closed

NEW DELHI: The deterioration of air quality in the national capital on Sunday morning affected flight operations and forced the schools of Noida and Ghaziabad to close.

For the first time this season, the (AQI) docked until 625 at 10 am despite drizzles in the early hours. In Dhirpur, the AQI was 509, while in the area of ​​the University of Delhi it was 591. In the famous Chandni Chowk area of ​​Delhi, the AQI was recorded at 432, while in Lodhi Road it was 537.

All government and private schools up to class 12 in Noida and Greater Noida were ordered to remain closed on November 4 and 5 following an increase in the level of contamination by the Gautam Buddh Nagar administration.

The administration said the decision has been made since particle levels 2.5 and 10 have been excessive in the air since Diwali, which has caused a significant drop in overall air quality.

At 10.35 a.m. on Sunday, the Noida air quality index was 487, while that of the Great Noida was 470, both in the severe category, which means that it affects healthy people and severely affects people with existing diseases

Due to the low visibility, up to 32 flights were diverted to nearby cities as visibility was reduced to about 300 meters at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport.

In an official statement, authorities said that all pilots who comply with CAT-II can operate, however, flight operations at the Delhi airport are affected due to low visibility in the area. The airport authorities advised passengers to contact their interested airlines for updated information on flights.
