Delhi: cabin aggregators will suspend the price increase during odd and even, ensure vehicle availability

NEW DELHI: During previous editions of the odd and even plan in 2016, travelers faced a massive price increase and the Delhi government had to intervene and threaten application-based taxi aggregators with cancellation of permits and the seizure of vehicles if they did not suspend the increase prices.

As the city prepares for the third edition of the scheme, the government has already asked the taxi aggregators to suspend the price increase and the taxi companies have also promised the same between November 4 and 15.

Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal He recently told reporters that app-based taxi aggregators have been strictly warned against the price increase during the period when the odd pair plan would be in effect in the city.

A spokesman for the Ola taxi aggregator said that by supporting the government's efforts to combat poor air quality in Delhi, there will be no maximum prices on Ola's trips during the odd-even plan period.

The price increase takes effect when the demand for taxis exceeds its availability and although the increase prices would be suspended during an odd scheme, the availability of taxis could become a problem. However, cabin aggregators said they would guarantee maximum cabin availability during this period.

The company will work closely with its driving partners to ensure maximum vehicle availability during peak hours, as well as during tiered times identified by the government to meet the additional demand on the platform, said the Ola spokesman.

Given that the odd even phase will be a time of great demand, Uber has already initiated a proactive communications campaign to its driver partner network in Delhi NCR, urging them to offer pledges of support and come out on the roads to ensure maximum rider convenience, ”an Uber spokesperson said. “So far, the company has already received more than 10,000 pledges from its driver partners,” he said.

“Uber will do everything possible to ensure movement around the city is easy during the odd-even phase. During this period, we will encourage commuters to use public transport along with our shared services like Auto, Moto and Pool for better first/last mile connectivity and to ensure reliable, safe and affordable commuting, ”he said. “The company is also working towards ensuring that commuters do not face any first and last mile connectivity issues by ramping up its services near metro stations across New Delhi. By offering convenient, reliable, affordable and safe travel options, Uber wants to encourage commuters to use public transport along with their shared services like Auto, Moto and Pool, ”he said.

“Continuing our efforts to provide travelers with an optimal and trouble-free experience, we will not have a maximum price on trips booked on the Ola platform during the odd-even period. We encourage all driver-partners, passengers and citizens to participate and make the third edition of the Odd-Even scheme a success, said Arun Srinivas, director of sales and marketing for Ola.

The transport company also said it will guarantee the availability of enough taxis in the city and without any price increase. Meru would reduce its commission charged to drivers by half to only 10%, thereby encouraging more drivers to join Meru, which would increase the supply of taxis for the convenience of customers, said a spokesman for Meru. Meru follows a strict policy of No price increase 24/7, even during the shortage of taxis. During this period, Meru is planning the maximum availability of taxis by adding capacity to better serve customers through the Meru application, the website, the call center and its reservation counters at the airport, ”he said.
