Germany will play a major role in this festival. the competition section of the festival too looks promising. It has international competition, competition in Indian language films, competition in short films, competition in documentary films and so on. We will also pay homage to Bernardo Bertolucci and six celluloid films of his will be screened. KIFF will also pay tribute to Mrinal Sen, Girish Karnad, Vidya Sinha , Ruma Guha Thakurta , Chinmoy Roy, Swarup Dutta and Mohammed Zahur Khayyam . ”Parambrata Chatterjee, Indranil Sen, Koel Mallick , Vivek Kumar and Arup Biswas were also present at the event. the logo of the festival was inaugurated by them.

At KIFF, 214 feature films and 152 short films and documentaries (selected from 2,492 entries) from 76 countries will be shown in 17 screening rooms. A centennial tribute will be dedicated to Manna Dey, Jahar Roy, Karuna Bandopadhyay and others.
