Englishman Joe Denly ruled out the rest of New Zealand's T20I

CHRISTCHURCH: England batter Joe Denly The rest of the five-game T20I series will be lost against New Zealand after suffering a right ankle injury.

According to a statement from England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), Denly picked up the injury in practice on Thursday before the first T20I.

The scan results showed that he suffered damage to his right ankle ligament, the ECB statement said.

A rehabilitation program will now begin and will be routinely evaluated before the two-game test series against the Black Caps beginning November 21.

England has not called for their replacement for the remaining four games in the series, which they currently lead 1-0 after their emphatic victory of seven wicket in the first T20I at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Friday.

Both teams will close horns in the second game at Westpac Stadium, Wellington on Sunday.
