Rohan Bopanna-Denis Shapovalov crashes at the Paris Masters
PARIS: the best doubles player in India Rohan Bopanna along with his partner Denis Shapovalov from Canada, removed from the Paris masters after a tough defeat against the Russian duo of Karen Khachanov and Andrey Rublov in the quarterfinals.
On Friday night, Bopanna-Shapovalov fell fighting 5-7, 7-6, 8-10 against the Russian duo in a match that lasted more than 80 minutes to exit the ATP Masters 1000 tournament.
The Indian-Canadian couple shot 10 aces and committed three double fouls during the course of the match. They also saved four of seven break points and won two of two, but they still emerged on the losing side at the end of the game.
Bopanna and Shapovalov had previously defeated the American-Argentine couple of Manuel Gonzalez and Austin Krajicek in their round of 16 match. Before that, they had managed to get Benoit Paire and Fernando Verdasco to move to the previous rooms.
Khachanov and Rublov will now face the Slovak-Croatian couple of Filip Polasek and Ivan Dodig for a place in the final.
