Mumbai trip in Musheer to rooms

MUMBAI: Even as a section in the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) is still not entirely convinced that the Apex Council has lifted its three-year ban for breach of discipline, Musheer Khan on Friday served as a reminder of his talent in his first game for the Mumbai U-16 team since his return from that episode.

The young player on the left turned 10 by 51 (4-28 and 6-23) to throw his side into an inning and 14 wins over Maharashtra in the Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana in Kandivali on Friday. Musheer's magic spell helped Mumbai win his last league clash, which was a play or die game for them, and qualify for the quarterfinals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy (Under-16 Trophy).

In addition to the 14-year-old SUV, the other hero of the victory was Ayush Jethwa, who achieved 110 of the 213 that Mumbai scored the only time they hit. Succumbing to Musheer, all Maharashtra could handle was 135 and 64.

Meanwhile, the selectors have chosen two of the players who had to retire at the last minute of the Mumbai U-16 team due to administrative supervision, in the four teams selected for the Mahindra U-19 KC Shield.
