Secunderabad: man gives triple talaq on crooked teeth

SECONDERABAD: A 36-year-old man gave triple talaq to his wife last month allegedly for his crooked teeth. A case has been registered under the Law on the Protection of the Rights of Muslim Women, but the man and his relatives are fleeing.

Mohammed Mustafa, a car driver, married Rukhsana (25) on June 27 this year. On October 1, he gave instant talaq. The crime came to light on Friday after Rukhsana Begum's family made it public.

A week after the wedding, Mustafa and her family allegedly began to harass her mentally and physically for more dowry, Rukhsana's family claimed. Mustafa told my sister that he didn't like him for his crooked teeth and that he didn't want to continue the marriage. But we think it has more to do with the dowry, ”said his brother Khaleel Shaikh.

Mustafa had also lied about his profession to Rukhsana's family before their wedding, Khaleel said.

They came to our house in cars and said they owned a store. We spent around ₹ 12 lakh at the wedding and gave five gold tolas and ₹ 5 lakh in cash. Only after marriage, we discovered that he was a car driver. Still, we accept the fact, he said that Khaleel Rukhsana's in-laws would even have locked her inside the room for 15 days and that she became ill because of the torture. “We took her to the hospital and then home, but she didn't say a word about the harassment thinking about the debts we had contracted for her marriage. But they (in-laws) didn't come to pick her up and even blocked all our phone numbers, Khaleel said.

Rukhsana initially approached the Malkajgiri police station, where the couple was advised. My sister was discouraged because he said nothing about her teeth during the engagement and suddenly Mustafa doesn't want to be with her after marriage because of her teeth. After receiving advice, he said he will come to pick her up on October 3, Khaleel said.

While staying with his parents in the Moula Ali area, the defendant visited her on October 1 around 12:30 p.m. and divorced her, said SI Girush Kumar, Kushaiguda. The family tried to make peace with the boyfriend's family, but failed.

On October 12, when Rukhsana tried to contact Mustafa again, he pronounced triple talaq again saying they were no longer related to each other.

His family filed a police report and an FIR was registered under section 498A of the IPC (husband or relative of the husband of a woman who subjected her to cruelty), the Law on the Prohibition of Dowry and the Law on the Protection of the Rights of Muslim Women (2019).

“The family (accused) locked their house in Rajendranagar and fled. We are looking for them, ”added the SI.

In September, a director of a 30-year-old private school was hired for allegedly pronouncing triple talaq in a WhatsApp call. His wife approached the Banjara Hills police and filed a complaint.
