Adani Ports&SEZ obtains the National CSR Award

New Delhi, November 1 () Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ), the leading port operator in India, won a 'Special Mention of Honor' award at the first RSC National Award ceremony.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and his deputy, Anurag Thakur, presented the award to Malay Mahadevia, president of the group, Human Resources of the Adani Group, Rakshit Shah, executive director, APSEZ and Avinash Rai, COO, APSEZ, according to a statement of the company.

APSEZ was recognized by 'CSR in challenging circumstances' in the western region and for creating a sustainable impact on the income and general standard of living of the fishing community in Gujarat, he said.

Since 2010, the Adani Foundation, the CSR arm of the Adani Group, has worked on behalf of APSEZ on the project called 'Transforming life and the provision of livelihoods for the fishing community' in six main areas that include means of life, women's empowerment, quality education, professional training, health development and infrastructure for communities in the vicinity of the cities of Mundra and Anjar in the districts of Kutch in Gujarat.

In line with the Adani Group's principle of 'Growth with kindness', the project has improved living conditions and created a sustainable impact on the lives of 6,067 fishermen and their families in seven villages in Gujarat, he said.

The availability of off-season livelihood opportunities, alternative livelihoods and better fishing techniques have resulted in an increase in household income. Quality health care services reduced the burden of disease and increased savings due to lower out-of-pocket costs.

In addition, education is being filled with 1,780 children enrolled in the Adani Vidya Mandir school in Bhadreshwar. Special attention was given to the preservation of the environment and biodiversity with the planting of mangroves on 2,889 hectares that provides protection against natural disasters and guarantees local employment.

APSEZ is the largest port developer and operator in India. It has 10 strategically located ports and terminals: Mundra, Dahej, Kandla and Hazira in Gujarat, Dhamra in Odisha, Mormugao in Goa, Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh and Kattupalli and Ennore in Chennai, which represent 24 percent of the total port capacity of the country. The company is also developing a transfer port in Vizhinjam, Kerala.
