Now workers can generate UAN from the EPFO portal directly

New Delhi, November 1 () The EPFO retirement fund agency launched a facility on Friday for formal sector workers to obtain a universal account number online without relying on their employers.

Currently, workers must submit an application through their employers to obtain the universal account number (UAN), which allows them to avoid submitting PF transfer claims when changing jobs. The UAN remains the same throughout the life of a worker.

Now, any worker can obtain the UAN directly from the EPFO website that enrolls them in PF, pensions and life insurance benefits and a worker will not have to rely on their employer to obtain the UAN.

In addition, the Employee Pension Fund Organization (EPFO) also launched an installation for its more than 65 lakh pensioners to download their pension-related documents, such as the pension payment order (PPO) on DigiLocker.

EPFO has been integrated with DigiLocker of the National Electronic Government Division (NeGD) to create an electronic PPO deposit that is accessible to individual pensioners. This is a movement towards the paperless system by EPFO.

The Minister of Labor, Santosh Gangwar, launched the two facilities during the celebrations of the 67th day of the foundation of the retirement agency here.

He also launched e-Inspection, which is an EPFO digital interface with employers.

The electronic inspection form would be available at the beginning of the user's session of employers who do not submit the ECR, which allows them to report on closing business or unpaid fees with the payment proposal. It will push employers for their compliant behavior and prevent harassment.

On this occasion, the minister said that he is obtaining many representations related to the Employee Pension Plan of 1995 and that he will guarantee the protection of workers' rights. EPFO has more than 6 million subscribers. It manages a corpus of more than Rs 12.7 lakh crore. KKS PRS MR MR
