I am happy that my film is screened in KIFF: Anik

Anik The next Dutta movie, Borunbabur Bondhu, has been selected in the Bengali Panorama (Indian premiere only) of the Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) The news was a pleasant surprise for many in the filmi corridors of Kolkata.

The director said: “When my movie receives a ticket to the festival, it is a happy occasion for me. Moreover, if that festival takes place in my hometown. I grew up watching movies at this festival. There was a time when we used to strive to get passes. Now, I can't go there often. However, I saw movies of my friends there. That includes Sanjoy Nag’s Yours Truly. I have also attended several discussion panels before. I am happy that Borunbabur Bondhu is projected on KIFF, ”said the director.

This will be the first time that Anik’s film will be screened at KIFF. “I don’t think any of my earlier films were sent to the festival. I am sure that Bhooter Bhobishyot, Bhobishyoter Bhoot or Meghnadbadh Rahasya were not sent. This one, however, was sent by the producer and it got selected. In fact, I met a member of the selection committee earlier this month. She said that the film has been liked unanimously, ”Anik informed.

Last year, Anik’s comment at a KIFF panel discussion had created a controversy. Early this year, his film titled Bhobishyoter Bhoot had run into problems regarding screening issues. Matters finally reached the legal corridors and the film was back in theaters in March. “I am happy that my film will be screened at the festival. I don't know if this decision has anything to do with what has happened last year. I had said what I had about the festival last year. I stand by it. I don't see any reason to connect last year’s incident with the screening this year, ”Anik signed out.
