Aakasha Ganga 2 tries to recreate the appeal of horror in Mollywood
Horror movie Fans anxiously await the sequel to the 1999 film Aakasha Ganga. When Aakasha Ganga 2 opens after two decades, Vinayan director Vishnu Vinay's son, who plays an important role in the film, tells us that the team is trying to create a space for horror movies in Mollywood.
“We watch horror movies from many other industries, but not many filmmakers think about making one in Malayalam. We wanted to break it, ”says Vishnu, who plays Gopikrishnan, an MBBS student, in the film.
The team decided to make a sequel to Aakasha Ganga, as it had created a stir in the industry. It is still considered a classic, so we decided to use the same myth in the next horror movie, he explains.
The previous movie ends when the main Maya character, played by Divya Unni, becomes part of the Maanikasseri family. Aakasha Ganga 2 tells the story of Maya and Unnikuttan's daughter, Arathi Varma played by Veena Nair . “Maya no longer exists, and her daughter is now an MBBS student, who is an atheist. I interpret his romantic interest and his classmate, ”he explains. Riyaz, who played Unnikuttan, returns to the big screen after almost 20 years. Vishnu adds that he enjoyed working with his father.
