Maruti Suzuki India registers a 4.5% growth in October sales
NEW DELHI: overcoming the prolonged slowdown in sales of passenger vehicles, the largest automaker in the country, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) on Friday reported a 4.5 percent increase in sales to 1.53,435 units in October.
The company had sold 1.46,766 units in October last year, MSI said in a statement.
Domestic sales increased 2.3 percent to 1.39,121 units last month compared to 1.35,948 units in October 2018, he added.
The mini car segment, however, witnessed a fall. The sales of Alto, WagonR (old) and the newly launched S-presos stood at 28,537 units compared to 32,835 units in the same month last year, down 13.1 percent.
The compact and utility vehicles segments were the top gainer for Maruti Suzuki India, registering 15.9% and 11.3% growth in October 2019, respectively.
The company sold 75,094 units of new WagonR, Celerio, Ignis, Swift, Baleno, Dzire in the compact segment in October 2019, compared to 64,789 units sold in the same period last year.
The largest car manufacturers in India manufacture Ertiga, XL6, Vitara Brezza, S-Cross and Gypsy in the utility vehicle segment. Overall, 23,108 UV units were sold last month, observing a jump from the 20,764 units sold last year.
