Veteran actress Geetanjali breathed for the last time Wednesday night while receiving treatment for cardiac arrest. He was 72 years old. In an illustrious career that spanned more than six decades, Geetanjali appeared in more than 200 films in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi. Born as Mani in Kakinada, the actress was renamed Geetanjali by Lakshmikant-Pyarelal, who directed her movie Parasmani. Coming from a family of four girls and one boy, he performed for the first time on stage when he was four years old, when he did a classical dance with his sister. There was no going back after that.
Geethanjali's performance as Sita in his debut film became his business card. He then performed alongside the main idols of the time, including NTR, ANR, Sivaji Ganesan and Rajkumar.
