Mumbai chased down the target with nine balls to spare with Suryakumar Yadav top scoring with 71 not out off 54 deliveries.
Delhi Capitals and Hyderabad will play the Eliminator in Visakhapatnam on May 8.
The loser of Qualifier 1 will play the winner of the Eliminator in Qualifier 2 in Visakhapatnam on May 10.
The winners of Qualifier 1 and 2 will play the IPL final in Hyderabad on May 12.
Mumbai ended the league phase with 18 points from 14 matches -- the same as Chennai and Delhi -- but they secured the top spot by virtue of a better run rate. Mumbai finished with a net run rate of 0.421 as against 0.131 and 0.044 of Chennai and Delhi respectively.
Kolkata and Hyderabad ended the league phase on 12 points each too, but Hyderabad sneaked in to the playoffs with a net run rate of 0.577, which Surpass Kolkata's 0.028.
