NEW DELHI: Premier Narendra Modi Tried To Contact The Prime Minister Mamata Banerjee On Saturday At Cyclone ' Fani ' To Discuss; But Could Not Do This Because His Calls Were Not Sent Back, A Senior Official Said.

The Prime Minister Then Spoke To The Governor, The Official Said.

Two Attempts Have Been Made By The Premier's Staff To Connect Modes With Banerjee Over The Telephone. At Both Occasions They Were Told That The Call Would Be Returned. On One Occasion They Were Told That The CM Is On Tour, The Official Said.

The Statement Came After The Trinamool Congress Struck In Modes Because He Had Not Spoken To Banerjee About The Ground Situation In The State As A Result Of The Cyclone.

The Premier Had Tweeted About His Discussion With The Governor.
