Logistics company a fine of Rs 30,000 for driving a car to Ahmedabad

AHMEDABAD: A Consumer Court Has An Rs 30,000 For Driving A Car From Mumbai After The Consumer Paid For Transporting The Vehicle.

A Resident Of Thaltej, Ankush Gupta, Had Lost His Worries About Driving 550 Kilometers By Paying Rs 10,000 To DRS Logistics Pvt Ltd On June 12, 2017 To Bring His Car From Mumbai To Ahmedabad In A Truck. On June 17, Gupta Received A Phone Call Informing Him That His Car Had Had An Accident Near Aslali, On The Outskirts Of Ahmedabad.

In Shock About How The Logistics Company Drove His Car To Ahmedabad Instead Of Getting It Into A Vehicle, Gupta Tried To Get Details. He Discovered That The Company Had Asked Another Company, Chaudhary Brothers, To Drive The Car To Its Destination. The Vehicle Was Badly Damaged And The Service Center, Where The Car Was Taken For Repair, Estimated The Loss At Rs 6.26 Lakh.

However, Because The Car Was A Seven-year-old Model And The Insured Declared Value Was Rs 2.81 Lakh, Gupta Received Rs 2.67 From The Insurer After Deduction Of The Amounts Due.

Still Irritated By The Gesture Of The Logistics Company To Steer The Car Through A Driver Instead Of Putting Him In A Truck, Gupla Sued The Company With The Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum, Ahmedabad (Rural) Damage Incurred By The Vehicle, As Well As Compensation For Harassment He Suffered.

The Logistics Company Opposed The Lawsuit By Raising The Issue Of Jurisdiction That The Order For The Transport Of The Vehicle Was Placed In Thane, The Booking Took Place In Secunderabad And The Accident Took Place In Ahmedabad.

Gupta Claimed That His Car Was Transferred By The Logistics Company To Another Company, But He Was Not Aware Of This. The Way In Which The Vehicle Was Brought To Ahmedabad Was Also In Conflict With What He Had Paid For.

After Hearing The Case, The Consumer Court Said Last Week:" Looking At The Facts Of The Case, It Is Certain That The Complainant Had Psychic Harassment And Had To Spend Due To Negligence On Part Of The Courier Company." The Logistics Company Has Been Asked To Pay Rs 20,000 To Gupta For Reimbursement Of Psychological Harassment And Rs 10,000 For Legal Expenses.
