Priyanka criticizes the government for the decision to remove the guards from the house
NEW DELHI: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra criticized the Uttar Pradesh government on Friday for its decision to eliminate 25,000 domestic guards, claiming that the BJP dispensation has ruined its festivals.
The Uttar Pradesh government announced Tuesday that it would eliminate 25,000 guards from the house since the state could not afford the new subsidies that the Supreme Court asked it to pay, only to reverse it hours later, saying no one would be removed.
On festivals, parents get sweets, clothes and gifts for their children. 25,000 home guards of Uttar Pradesh with their troubles are demonstrating on the day of festival that the government should listen to them and give them in writing that they will not be removed, Priyanka Gandhi said in a tweet in Hindi.
The BJP government has ruined all its festivals, he claimed.
The Secretary General of Congress also shared a video from a television channel that shows women home guards protesting the government's decision.
